Today's Daily Dirty Diary

The revealing short film, ‘Overview’ explores the phenomenon experienced by astronauts of viewing planet Earth from outside it’s atmosphere. Termed the “Overview Effect” by Frank White, this new perspective was introduced in 1968 when an astronaut on the Apollo 8 pointed a video camera at the Earth, uncovering a never before seen perspective. In that moment, a mission to discover became a journey of self-discovery. Five astronauts recount their own transformative experiences leading to a more profound sense of interconnectedness with the natural world.
This cognitive shift allows us to see the the fragility of our Earth and the effects of human impact. The “Overview Effect” calls for a shift in behaviors leading to a more sustainable approach to survival.
