Today's Daily Dirty Diary

Wayne Lawrence, a Brooklyn based fine art photographer, created the series “Orchard Beach: The Bronx Riviera”, capturing the true beauty of a destination and it’s diverse visitors. Created in the 1930’s, Orchard Beach is the Bronx’s only public beach, serving as a haven for the community. Lawrence asserts that his photographs represent a visual diary of his life’s experiences. He is focused on illuminating subjects that are normally ignored by mainstream media. Visceral emotions resonate from the subjects as they proudly claim this landmark and a part of their heritage. Lawrence is intent on highlighting beauty in all its’ broad range of ¬†age, body shapes and skin color.

Wayne Lawrence’s photographs have been recently exhibited at the Open Society Institute, The George and Leah McKenna Museum of African American Art, and the Calumet Gallery as well as published in The New York Times and Newsweek.
