In an interview with the Gothamist, Academy Award winning french filmmaker, Michel Gondry opens up about his upcoming film as well as discusses some his most notable works. Known for his inventive vision and and penchant for unexpected collaborations, Gondry has been credited with being a master of reinventing the mis-en-scène. He has directed films, commercials, and music videos — balancing commercial and indie ventures while retaining a unique point of view.

In the article, Gondry is frank about the subjects of his work. In his upcoming film, “The Tall Man Happy?:An Animated conversation with Noam Chomsky,” he stresses his fascination with Chomsky’s scientific approach as well as his political sensibility. Also in the interview, Michel states that after having directed the musical documentary, David Chappelle’s Block Party, he believes Chappelle is “one of the strongest comedians around.” He opens up about his personal relationships with Bjork, Kanye West, and Daft Punk.
